Laura Peers

Adjunct Professor, Department of Anthropology and School for the Study of Canada, Trent University; independent consultant

Biography

Dr. Laura Peers’ work has opened dialogues between Indigenous communities and museums across the UK, Europe and North America. Formerly Curator for the Americas Collections, Pitt Rivers Museum, and Professor of Museum Anthropology at the University of Oxford, her research and curatorial practice explores the meanings of heritage objects to Indigenous people today and ways that museums can support Indigenous communities. She is now Adjunct Professor, Department of Anthropology and School for the Study of Canada at Trent University, and an independent consultant on museums and Indigenous heritage issues.
